Going deeper… together

Growing in faith has always been done in community. We gather regularly with other Christians to worship, prayer, learn, eat, witness and live together. We are a family on God’s mission. We encourage you to connect with Christians both formally and informally.

Informally we can be a part of families, friendships and groups with other Christians with whom you can grow in faith and support and encourage each other. Ideas include:

  • Finding a group of 2-4 people who you can meet together to pray and listen to God with; and to help each other' grow through applying God’s truth to each other’s lives and through holding each other lovingly accountable for putting into practice what God is speaking into our lives. You might even like to prayer walk our local area together.

  • Creating an informal group to read the Bible together. In Midday Meet we simply read through a short passage twice with 1-2 minutes silence in between. Then we share what has struck us and pray through what God has said to us.

  • Read the Bible (e.g. a gospel) in a sililar way with a neighbour, friend or collegue who doesn’t yet know Jesus - let God’s Word speak powerfully into their life as you read, discuss and even pray together.

  • Meeting with other Christians who are in the same workplace as you. This is a great way in which to support each other in living your faith out in the workplace. There is the chance to pray and read the Bible together. Hopefully this will lead to ways in which you can bless your collegues, build community and bring the good news to your workplace. Even in lockdown we can do this over Zoom.

There are many more formal opportunities in the life of the church to grow in our discipleship to Jesus.  Here are some of the activities where we grow together in Cogges Church:

  • Sunday worship services – where we gather together (currently virtually!) to worship God, to learn from his message to us in the Bible and to pray for ourselves and the needs of the world.

  • Connect Groups, Missional Communities and other smaller mid-week groups – these are groups (6-12 ish) which meet together to grow together in faith. There are opportunities to share life (and sometimes food!) together, to study the Bible together, to pray for each other and support each other.  Do contact David Spence (david@coggesparish.com) if you’d like to join in with a group.

  • Praying together – there are several opportunities each week to pray together.

  • Exploring the basics of faith with Alpha – you might feel you are not a Christian but would like to explore what it’s all about or you might want to brush up on the basics of our walk with Jesus – whoever you are Alpha is a place to explore Life and Jesus and ask your questions about faith.
